Lesson 13 – Job Hunt
Sam: It’s going to be difficult finding a new job.
Chris: It is not going to be easy but if you keep trying, something is going to come up.
Sam: I’m supposed to be taking a trip with my family next week to visit my aunt in France. It will be impossible to go to a job interview if I am in France.
Chris: What are you going to do?
Sam: I am going to tell them I can’t go.
Chris: That is a shame but you can visit them again sometime!
Sam: We are travelling to Italy in the summer. We can drop in on the way.
Chris: They suspect it is going to be a hot summer. What a great time to travel through Europe!
Sam: Yes, but it is going to be so warm in the car!
Chris: Well, find a job, save all your money, and spend it on water and hand fans!
Sam: You’re not funny, but you are right! I’m going to cancel this trip and I’m going to take this job hunt seriously.

The central purpose of future time is to use it, as its name implies, to talk about the future. There are two forms of this time, the simple future that is also called the simple future and the progressive future, also known as the continuous future.
Let’s start with the simple future, which has two different forms: will and going to. Both forms are looked at a specific time in the future and are sometimes exchanged. However, one often expresses two different meanings. Will, can be used to express a spontaneous decision, an idea given by being in relation to the future or an action in the future that can not be controlled. While when we come to a relationship with the immediate future or we refer to an upcoming action in the future that has already been planned, we use « going to ».
Affirmative form of « will ».
The auxiliary verb will is used to make predictions, talk about events that are not yet decided and to make simple statements of future events. This is the most common way of talking about the future:
I will finish work at 10 pm
He will practise until he has mastered it
By forming a sentence with this simple future form, we can make use of this formula:
|Subject||Will +Verb||Rest of the sentence|
When we use the negative of will, there are two possible ways: will not and won’t. Normally we use the contracted form, using the long form when we require emphasis or formality.
|Subject||Won´t +Verb||Rest of the sentence|
|I/He/She/It/You/We/They||won´t leave||without saying goodbye.|
When we ask a question that answers with or without, we use the auxiliary verb will (or won’t), then the subject followed by the base of the verb. At the end, add the rest of the sentence.
|Auxiliar||Subject||Base form of a verb||Rest of the sentence|
|Will (won´t)||I/He/She/It/You/We/They||complete||the assignment before Monday?|
What, where, when, why, who, how can be used by initiating a question wh-. Along with will (won’t), a subject and the base of the verb we can ask a question that requires more information in the answer.
|Wh-||Auxiliar||Subject||Base form of a verb||Rest of the sentence|
|Why||won´t||I/You/We/He/She/It/They||finish||what you started?|
