Jeff: It’s seven o’clock. We should start to get ready!
Polly: You seem keen on attending the dinner party. It’s a company dinner, I thought you’d be dreading it.
Jeff: There is a possible promotion coming up. I think it will be good to let the management see me in a social setting. It’s a great opportunity!
Polly: Wouldn’t they be more interested in your skills in the office? It seems unlikely that a dinner party is going to help them make a decision.
Jeff: It can’t hurt my chances though! The management are quite a social group. They are always planning company functions, paintballing, bowling, and various activities…
Polly: But you never bothered with those sort of things before.
Jeff: I know. It is going to be strange attending one of these events. But I think it is something that I have to do if I want a shot at that promotion!
Polly: I guess so. What time do we have to be there?
Jeff: The dinner starts at 10pm.
Polly: Okay, well it’s Saturday so I think the buses are going to be full of drunken students on their way into town. Do you want to order a taxi?
Jeff: Good idea! It’s going to be busy and it’s 10 miles away so I’ll order the taxi for 9:15.

The use of it:
It is a pronoun that applies only to objects and animals.

When we talk about hours, we must apply the following rules. For time of the hour, we have to use o’clock:
It’s six o’clock.
To mark 30 minutes after on the stroke of each hour, we say half past before the time.
It’s half past nine.
To indicate fifteen minutes after on the stroke of each hour, we say a quarter past before the time.
It’s a quarter to four.
To express an assessment of a specific situation, we use it’s + adjective + to:
It’s + Adjective (difficult, nice, dangerous, interesting, terrible etc.) + To
It’s not easy to learn English.
It’s nice to visit Spain.
